  1. Everyone eats something. What differs is what makes up the food people eat, whether it be from live animals or plants, but animals and plants are essentially the same because they’re food, so by that definition vegetarians eat the same thing as meat, so they’re meat-eaters like me. Not quite the same meat I eat, but a kind of food nonetheless.

Johnathan, if the logic of my former statement seems a bit strange to you, it’s because it follows this false logic:

    1. Meat is food
    2. Vegetables are food
    3. All food is basically the same
    4. Therefore, meat and vegetables are basically the same
    5. Therefore, vegetarians are meat eaters

This is an analogy to your false logic:

    1. God is a belief about the universe
    2. Math is a belief about the universe
    3. All beliefs about the universe are basically the same
    4. Therefore, God and math are basically the same
    5. Therefore, people who believe in math believe in God

The problem is that not all food is the same, and meat and vegetables, just like math and God, are not the same.
